Untold to Push
At first, my personal reading book was Untold Story by Monica Ali. I would not recommend this book because it did not draw me in at all. I would recommend my new book, Push, by Sapphire to only friends that can handle such a brutal tale. It is not age appropriate for a young crowd under the age of 15. To me, it is a lot to take in and takes time to truly understand along with appreciating what the story is trying to tell. The book that is most similar to Push is Fences, a story the 9th graders read. It is similar because of the African- American culture and the many issues at hand such as making money to feed the family. My experience changed from the beginning because I changed books and it was challenging to continue reading my first choice. But while reading Push, I never put the book down because I was fascinated from the beginning. It was such a real and down to earth story and seemed very realistic. The theme of a troubling story of a 16-year-old girl who had big dreams, truly interested me. I do not know a book off hand that I would like to read because I do not enjoy reading too much, but I would want to choose a book that would actually pull me in like Push did.
